To promote sustainability and reduce ecosystem destruction, one of the things our school did was to increase the amount and variety of plan life within our school grounds. Seeds and saplings brought from the Bureau of Plant Industry and the Philippine Seed Society are currently being grown, some of these plants include fruit bearing trees such as Guava, Tamarind, Marang, and Cacao tees, flowering trees such as the Magnolia and Umbrella trees, vegetables such as bitter melons (locally called ampalaya), bottle gourds (locally called upo), Chinese cabbage (locally called pechay), and as well as mustard plants. In terms of the care and growth of the plants, they receive water daily with a supplement of organic fertilizer from time to time. No insecticide is use on any of the plants on the school campus as well, as this can cause them to wither or become poisoned. Other than this, the teachers of our elementary school levels teach their students to care for the environment, often planting and caring for seeds and plants of their own. This allows the students to learn what to do and what not to do to keep their environment safe and healthy at a young age.
