About Me
I am really looking forward to the opportunity to participate in TIGED. I am currently one of three Assistant Principals at a secondary school in Hobart Tasmania. My role is around professional learning for teachers - to promote innovative teaching practice and look at ways to engage students of the 21st century. I am also a teacher (that goes without saying!). I have taught in various sectors of schooling teaching students from kinder to year 10. This year I will be teaching 'English' and 'Society & History' to students in year 7( first year of high school).
I am also extremely interested in the social and emotional aspects of learning. I believe that building positive relationships with students is the key to success for many. I am a 'Tribes' trainer and promote the ideas, strategies and values associated with Tribes Learning Communities.
I am a mother of generation Y kids and understand that technology rules their world. I have 2 daughters - one studying a Behavioural Science degree and the other studying year 12 this year. Being a full time parent and teacher takes its toll on the amount of time devoted to interests but this is gradually changing. Before children I was passionately interested in travel, particularly to different cultures.I also enjoyed board sailing, my goal in retirement is to sail around the Pacific with my husband in a yacht.
