About Me

My name is Frances Lockyer and I'm a teacher at Taroona High School, Hobart, Tasmania.

This is my first year as a fully qualified teacher, so I'm very excited to be participating in this project!

My specialisations are English and Society and History and I have a real desire to challenge students in these areas by exposing them to the real and immediate issues impacting on our world today.

I firmly believe that the answers to so many of the world's issues lie with our students' understanding of these concerns. With understanding comes empathy and compassion and a desire to change things.

I have spent some time travelling (one of my favourite pastimes) and I also believe that by going out and seeing the world, individuals become more inspired to take on challenges in order to make a difference.

I love to bushwalk in my spare time, but during the winter take to hibernating with a good book or dvd :)

I look forward to collaborating with you!
Frances.
